There are currently 104 genera recognized within the family, of which 19 are so far listed below.
There is some disagreement concerning exactly how many species are contained within the Tyrannidae family. Conservative estimates put the number at
429. Due to new species being discovered, and some taxonomic splits being considered, the total number of species will undoubtedly increase. 2 species
are listed as critical, 7 are endangered, 18 are vulnerable, and another
25 are considered near-threatened. This extremely large and diversified family is restricted to the Americas.
