Trogons and Quetzals Trogonidae
There are 7 genera within this family. Of the forty species of Trogons and Quetzals, one is listed as endangered; the Javan Trogon Apalharpactes reinwardtii. This species is sometimes lumped with the Sumatran Trogon Apalharpactes mackloto. Another ten species are considered near-threatened. Twenty four species, including six species of Quetzals are found in the Americas, three species are found in Africa, and the other thirteen are found in Asia.

There are 17 species within this genus. The Baird's Trogon Trogon bairdii is considered near-threatened.
