Skuas Stercorariidae
These seabirds are divided into 2 genera, consisting of 8 species. The three smaller members of the family "Stercorarius" are known as jaegars in North America. They range from the Arctic to the Antarctic. The South Polar Skua Catharacta maccormicki has even been sighted at the South Pole!

There are 3 species within this genus.

Known as the Arctic Skua in Britain this Parasitic Jaeger Stercorarius parasiticus was photographed at Handa Island, Highland, Scotland, June 2009.
