Penduline Tits Remizidae
Members of these small passerines are found in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. The 12 species are divided into 5
genera. Some authorities consider the penduline tits as a subfamily Remizinae of the titmice family
Paridae.
Auriparus

This is the only member of this genus.
The Verdin Auriparus flaviceps is typically found in the desert areas of the southwestern United States south to central Mexico.
It is the only member of the family to be found in the New World.
This acrobatic individual was photographed at the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona.
