Old World Flycatchers Muscicapidae

The Old World Flycatchers are a large family consisting of 279 species which are divided into 50 genera. They are found mainly in Europe, Africa and Asia. The Rueck's Blue-flycatcher Cyornis ruckii is critically endangered. Another 10 species are endangered, 18 are vulnerable, and 26 more are considered near-threatened.

The European Robin Erithacus rubecula or just plain "Robin", is one of the most familiar and confiding of all British garden birds. They are also found across Europe, east to western Siberia and south to North Africa. This species was formerly placed in the thrush family Turdidae. This adult was photographed near Nottingham, England, April 2005.
