The tiny Ruby-crowned Kinglets Regulus calendula have a distinct habit of constantly flicking their wings, which gives them a nervous look.
The red crown patch of the male is usually concealed, but is distinctly raised when excited. Their range extends from Alaska, south to Guatemala.
