Gulls Laridae

Gulls are closely related to terns Sternidae and skimmers Rhynchopidae and some authors lump them all in the Laridae family. These medium to large-sized birds are divided into 7 genera, of which 2 are listed below. Of the 51 species, the Black-billed Gull Larus bulleri is considered endangered. Another 5 species are listed as vulnerable and 4 are near-threatened. Members of this family inhabit temperate shorelines around the world.
