Creepers Certhidae

The family consists of 2 genera, containing 8 species. The recently described to science Sichuan Creeper Certhia tianquanensis is considered vulnerable.

Certhia

There are 7 species within this genus.

Due to the camouflaged streaking on their upperparts, the Brown Creeper Certhia americana can be hard to spot as they spiral up the trunks of trees. They are more easily detected when they fly from the top of one tree to the base of another. This Brown Creeper was photographed at the Sweetwater Wetlands, Tucson, Arizona.
