Lepidoptera: Butterflies
There are about 20,000 species of butterflies in the world. About 725 have occured in North America north of Mexico. Lepidoptera are broken into three
super-familes: Hesperioidae skippers, Papilioidae true butterflies and Hedyloidae moth-butterflies.
Butterflies are found on every continent, except Antarctica.
