Accentors Prunellidae

The Accentors are a single genus family consisting of thirteen species, all of which are restricted to Europe, North Africa and Asia. The Yemen Accentor Prunella fagani is considered near-threatened.

The Dunnock Prunella modularis is sometimes called the Hedge Sparrow, Hedge Accentor or Hedge Warbler. It is the most widespread member of the family. Photographed in the grounds of Newstead Abbey, near Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire, England, May 2009.
